Without early defibrillation, only 5 out of 100 SCA victims will survive. AEDs offer a practical way to save more lives because they are
designed for use by nearly anyone. Widespread deployment of AEDs in public places gives SCA victims the best chance of survival.
Unlike manual defibrillators used in hospitals and by paramedics, automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are easy to operate. The new
generation of AEDs analyzes the victim's condition and, if warranted, delivers an electric shock to the heart to reverse SCA. Nearly
anyone with proper training can use these devices. Thanks to the passage of Good Samaritan laws on both the state and federal
level, properly trained users and acquirers of AEDs are immune from legal liability associated with the use of an AED.
Simply providing an AED in a facility is not enough. The plan requires people who are willing to become trained in using the
equipment when the need arises. You can partner with us in saving lives by becoming a trained responder and join the hundreds
of people able to use AEDs in any setting. All our trainers are AHA certified. The training class is a hands-on 4 hour course that
provides a 2 year CPR/AED card from the AHA upon completion. You will also receive a pocket mask with the class.
