Over 38,000 of those deaths occur in New York State. Some symptoms can be mistaken for less serious ailments such as stress or fatigue, but can rapidly intensify causing severe chest pain and heart failure. That is why New York State is mandating that all NY state offices, primary and secondary schools be equipped with AED equipment on site in case of an emergency.
